In recognising that companies conducting their business in a sustainable and responsible manner are more likely to succeed over time, we actively invest in companies providing solutions to social and environmental problems and avoid companies that exacerbate them. We also try to use our influence as shareholders to promote good practice among those companies we invest in. As expected by our stakeholders we set the same high standards for our own business.

We have a strong track record in social and responsible investing and treat sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) not only as an asset class but as a key strategic focus.  We have a dedicated SRI team whose aim is to deliver top-performing funds by explicitly integrating social, environmental and corporate governance issues into the investment process. The team is a industry recognised leading source of expertise in SRI matters and the team has received many presitigous awards.

Our success in this area was also highlighted when Aviva Investors was invited to address the United Nations in November 2009 regarding implementing sustainable stock exchanges around the globe.

Our commitment to sustainability is also demonstrated through our gold leaf membership of the UK Green Building Council.
