Aviva Investors appoints Head of Multi-strategy Funds

Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva plc (‘Aviva’), has strengthened its Multi-asset and Macro team with the appointment of Mark Robertson as Head of Multi-strategy Funds. Based in London, Mark will report to Peter Fitzgerald, Chief Investment Officer, Multi-asset and Macro, and will be a named manager on all three funds in the Aviva Investors Multi-Strategy (AIMS) range: AIMS Target Return, AIMS Target Income and AIMS Fixed Income.

Mark has 18 years’ industry experience and joins Aviva Investors from NN Investment Partners in the Netherlands, where he worked for seven years. Most recently, he was Head of Multi-asset Portfolios, with responsibility for total return and balanced portfolios with €14 billion of assets under management. Prior to NN, Mark spent five years as Senior Multi-asset Portfolio Manager at ING Investment Management in Sydney, Australia.

Today’s announcement follows several other appointments to the Multi-asset and Macro team in 2018. These include Kevin O’Nolan, who joined as Multi-asset Portfolio Manager from Fidelity; Guillaume Paillat, who joined as Multi-asset Portfolio Manager from First State Investments; and Patrick Bartholet, Katarina Cohrs and David Nowakowski, who all joined as Multi-asset Strategists. The strategy team will be further strengthened by the appointment of Ombretta Signori, who joins Aviva Investors in October as a Multi-asset Strategist from AXA Investment Managers.

Peter Fitzgerald, Chief Investment Officer, Multi-asset and Macro, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Mark to Aviva Investors. In addition to a wealth of experience managing absolute-return strategies, Mark’s work in applying behavioural finance and Big Data techniques to the portfolio management process will bring a new dimension to the team.”

Separately, Ian Pizer has decided to step down from day-to-day portfolio management on AIMS Target Return and AIMS Target Income, as well as his role as Head of Investment Strategy. He will now work for Aviva Investors on a part-time basis, focusing solely on investment strategy.

The named managers on AIMS Target Return are Peter Fitzgerald, Mark Robertson and James McAlevey. The named managers on AIMS Target Income are Peter Fitzgerald, Mark Robertson and Ahmed Behdenna. The named managers on AIMS Fixed Income are James McAlevey, Mark Robertson, Orla Garvey and Joubeen Hurren.

Michael Grady, who joined Aviva Investors in 2015 as Senior Economist and Strategist, has been appointed interim Head of Investment Strategy.
