Aviva Investors appoints Iain Forrester as Global Head of Buy-and-Maintain Credit

(London) – Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva plc (‘Aviva’), has announced the appointments of Iain Forrester to the newly-created position of Global Head of Buy-and-Maintain Credit and Cyril Martin to the newly-created position of Head of Investment Solutions Strategy and Design.

Reporting to Colin Purdie, Chief Investment Officer, Credit, Iain will be responsible for further developing Aviva Investors’ global Buy-and-Maintain capabilities for institutional clients. The team seeks to deliver superior client outcomes through robust portfolio construction and an active investment approach, with environmental, social and governance considerations integrated throughout the investment process.

Iain joined Aviva Investors in August 2017, and most recently held the role of Head of Insurance and Pensions Solutions. Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Iain worked at Standard Life, where he held senior leadership roles focused on investment strategy and asset-liability management.

The Buy-and-Maintain team has been further strengthened by the appointments of Sid Bhattacharyya as Senior Portfolio Manager and Craig Adam as Assistant Portfolio Manager. It is also looking to appoint two additional Portfolio Managers in London and Chicago.

Sid and Craig will be based in London and report to Iain. Sid has over 15 years’ industry experience and joins after over 12 years at Deutsche Asset Management, most recently as Senior Credit Portfolio Manager. Craig has over seven years’ experience in the investment industry, and previously held the role of Business Manager to the Chief Investment Officers for Credit, Equities and Multi-Asset and Macro at Aviva Investors.

Colin Purdie, CIO, Credit at Aviva Investors, said:

“Buy-and-Maintain credit is a core asset class for insurance companies, and pension funds are also increasing their allocations to similar, cashflow-matching strategies. Iain has extensive experience in constructing credit portfolios for these investor groups, as well as strong leadership skills. His appointment will allow us to build our franchise with Aviva and third-party clients, which I am confident will lead to the continued expansion of the platform.”

Cyril will be responsible for developing Aviva Investors’ solutions to Aviva and external insurance and pension scheme clients; working closely with colleagues in Global Client Solutions. Based in London, Cyril reports to Al Denholm, Chief Investment Officer, Solutions. He has over 16 years’ industry experience and joined Aviva Investors in July 2017, most recently holding the role of Head of Investment Solutions Design.

The Investment Solutions and Design team has been further strengthened with the addition of Michael Palframan as Investment Strategist. Based in London and reporting to Cyril, Michael joins after over seven years at BlackRock, where most recently he held the role of Vice President in the BlackRock Investment Institute, focusing on portfolio construction and capital market assumptions. The team is also looking to hire a Senior Insurance Strategist and two strategists in solutions design.

Al Denholm, CIO, Solutions, at Aviva Investors, said:

“Cyril’s appointment is well deserved. He has the technical expertise and commercial experience to deliver a range of bespoke solutions that meet the needs of sophisticated institutional clients, which is an area where we see significant opportunities.”
