Main responsibilities
Jonathan specialises in private markets investment strategy, with responsibility for leading the real estate strategy and research team, shaping house views across the UK and wider Europe, and investment decision-making. He plays a central role in capital allocation across real estate equity, debt and long income mandates.
Jonathan also contributes broader private markets outlooks, augmenting views on infrastructure, private credit and other private equity. He has led thematic research across sectors including UK single family, senior living, Spanish multi-family and German PBSA.
Jonathan is closely involved with external real estate operating partners and managers, having recently served as an interim member of the Real Estate Investment Committee. He continues to contribute at a strategic level to investment and portfolio construction decisions.
Experience and qualifications
Jonathan joined Aviva Investors in 2017 as a Senior Analyst and was promoted to Senior Associate Director in 2019, before becoming Head of Real Estate Research in 2022. He previously worked in JLL’s European Research and Consulting team.
He serves on INREV’s Research Committee and is a former member of AREF’s Research and Information Committee and DEI Taskforce. He regularly presents at industry events, with insights from the research team featured in publications including Bloomberg, the Financial Times, Property Week and React News.
Jonathan holds an MSc in Real Estate from University of Built Environment (Reading) and a BSc in Geography from University College London. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate.
