Biography
Main responsibilities
Mirza is member of Aviva Investor’s ESG leadership team with responsibility for overseeing ESG corporate research, investment integration and stewardship activities across liquid market strategies. This includes oversight of quantitative and qualitative sector and company ESG research, proxy voting and company engagement activities, and ensuring ESG insights are fully embedded within Aviva Investors’ investment processes.
Mirza is a member of the House View Forum and Strategic Investment Group which shapes Aviva Investors’ macro outlook and approves investment ideas for Aviva Investors’ multi-asset strategies. Mirza currently serves as the chair of the UK Investment Association’s Stewardship Committee and is a member of the International Corporate Governance Network Business Ethics and Systemic Risk Committee.
Experience and qualifications
Mirza joined Aviva Investors in 2016 with over 15 years’ experience in responsible investment having previously served as Vice President, Corporate Governance at State Street Global Advisors, and Director of Governance and Sustainable Investment at BMO Asset Management (formerly F&C Asset Management). Mirza also spent a number of years as a responsible investment consultant based in Asia, advising asset managers, private equity funds and rating agencies.
