Main responsibilities

Kiran is the Biodiversity Analyst for Aviva Investors, responsible for Aviva’s biodiversity policy and commitments on deforestation and biodiversity within investment and underwriting. Kiran is developing Aviva's approach to deforestation and biodiversity risk assessments, engagements with companies on deforestation and providing technical advice to multiple business units on biodiversity issues.

Experience and qualifications

Before joining Aviva Investors, she worked at the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) within the Nature Economy team, where she focussed on integrating biodiversity risk within private and financial sectors. Kiran has technically led on the integration of deforestation risk and the use of nature-based solutions within the banking sector. Prior to this, she conducted research in Japan focussing on wildlife friendly farming certification and led research expeditions in Indonesia collecting tropical rainforest data for the Verified Carbon Standard.

Kiran holds a MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent, Canterbury and a BSc in Biological Sciences with a Year in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham.
