Main responsibilities
David is Head of Private Markets Strategy & Research and Chair of the Global Strategy Committee, which is responsible for approving fund-level strategies across private markets. He leads a team tasked with delivering both thematic and fundamental research to the various investment desks across private markets.
David is part of the senior team, delivering challenge and corroboration where required, as well as offering insight into strategy formation, portfolio construction and investment solutions. David and the Private Markets Strategy & Research team also develop and maintain proprietary models which underpin investment decisions and market outlook.
Experience and qualifications
Prior to joining Aviva Investors, David was Head of UK & European Real Estate Investment Strategy at Aberdeen Investments (formerly Standard Life Investments), a role that covered both research and strategy functions across the real estate business. Before that, he worked in London and Stockholm for IPD (now part of MSCI), where he undertook portfolio analysis for several large asset management houses in Europe.
David has been a member of numerous industry bodies and is a former Chair of both the INREV Performance Measurement Committee and the INREV Asset Level Index. He has also been a member of the IPF Research Steering Committee and was part of the Property Derivatives Interest Group (PDIG).
He holds a degree in Geography from the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada; an MSc in Spatial Planning and the Built Environment from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden; and an MBA (with distinction) from Alliance Manchester Business School, UK.
