Michael Palframan

Michael leads our Institutional solutions business within Aviva Investors. In his role he is responsible for the design of implementable investment strategies which often incorporate bespoke client requirements. The strategies that Michael designs span a wide range of public and private asset classes, reflecting the opportunity set of investments available at Aviva Investors.

More broadly, as a member of the Investment Solutions team he also assists in the design of investment solutions for insurance clients, official institutions, and pension scheme clients globally. 

Before joining Aviva Investors in 2020, Michael was a Vice President at BlackRock working in the BlackRock Investment Institute where he focused on portfolio construction research and market views.

During the 8 years spent at BlackRock Michael assisted clients in designing investment strategies, constructing liability matching portfolios, developing portfolio optimisation techniques, and formalising the risk and controls around portfolio design for over £300bn of assets. Whilst at BlackRock he previously worked in the Client Solutions team building strategic asset allocations for pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, insurers, and other institutional investors. Prior to that he was a quantitative strategist within the LDI team. 

Michael graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and is also a CFA® charterholder.
