Main responsibilities
Munawer heads the Multi-Asset business within Aviva Investors Private Markets division, where he oversees the Structured & Private Corporate Debt team, the Portfolio Management team, and the Natural Capital business. As the Head of Structured & Private Corporate Debt, he is responsible for originating and structuring diverse range of private debt asset classes, such as corporate lending, insured and guaranteed loans, swap repacks, structured repos, fund finance, trade finance, and securitisations. These investments are evaluated on a relative value basis, leading to enhanced risk-adjusted returns compared to liquid public market investments. Munawer has strong expertise in cross-asset structuring and portfolio construction, allowing him to create optimal portfolio solutions under regulatory frameworks like Solvency II and Net Zero. Munawer is also a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), co-chairing the DEI committee. Additionally, he is a permanent voting member of the Aviva Investors Private Markets Global Investment Committee.
Experience and qualifications
Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Munawer was an Actuarial Associate at Willis Towers Watson, where he provided comprehensive actuarial and investment advice to occupational pension funds. He previously worked at Barclays Investment Bank as a Structured Credit Products Analyst and at AXA as a Pricing Analyst. Munawer holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Bayes Business School, a master’s degree in actuarial finance from Imperial College London, and is a qualified Actuary. He also holds the Certificate in Derivatives from the Institute of Actuaries and the IMC from the CFA Society of the UK. Munawer is a member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
